The Philadelphia 76ers are now reported to be among the teams trying to recruit unrestricted free agent LeBron James. ESPN says the push comes shortly after Philadelphia agreed to acquire Jaylen Brown from Boston in a major trade.
The reported Brown deal would send Paul George and multiple draft picks to the Celtics, giving the Sixers a new star wing alongside their existing core. Philadelphia also agreed to add guard Anfernee Simons, moves that could strengthen its case as a team trying to present James with a competitive roster.
James is not expected to rush his decision, according to the report. Golden State, Cleveland and Miami are also listed as known suitors, but the financial paths differ: Philadelphia is currently described as being limited to a veteran-minimum offer, while other teams may need roster or salary adjustments to create room.
For editors, the key caution is that the central recruiting claim is still sourced reporting, not a formal announcement from James, the 76ers or any rival team. The basketball angle is clear, though: Philadelphia’s aggressive roster reshaping has quickly turned into a wider conversation about whether it can credibly enter the LeBron sweepstakes.
