Newcastle United have completed a £43m move for Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim. The 20-year-old Ivory Coast forward arrives as the club reshapes its left-sided attacking options after Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona.
Toure’s rise has been unusually quick: he moved to Hammarby in 2024, later joined Hoffenheim, and has now stepped into the Premier League after 18 months in Germany. The BBC report frames him as a player Newcastle actively wanted after missing out on other wide targets, with Sandro Tonali’s expected move to Tottenham also presented as part of the financial backdrop to further recruitment.
On the pitch, the appeal is clear. In his final Bundesliga campaign, Toure ranked highly among forwards for successful crosses, assists, completed dribbles, chances created and big chances created. He also contributed without the ball, winning 152 duels and making 127 recoveries in league play.
The main question is not whether Toure has tools, but how quickly they translate. The source analysis notes that he remains raw, especially around finishing, and will need time to handle Premier League intensity and Eddie Howe’s tactical demands. For Newcastle, this looks like a signing based on upside as much as immediate output.
