Charles Leclerc won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with George Russell second and Lewis Hamilton third after the race finished behind the safety car. The Ferrari driver’s first victory in nearly two years also earned him the highest rating in the supplied BBC assessment, a 9/10.
The result carried extra championship weight because Kimi Antonelli, who had won Saturday’s sprint, failed to score in the Grand Prix. His lead was cut to 25 points, while Russell’s runner-up finish helped him close ground despite a race that included a slow puncture.
The BBC ratings highlighted more than the podium. Lando Norris was marked highly after finishing fourth, while Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad and Gabriel Bortoleto each received 8/10 for turning a chaotic weekend into strong results or points finishes.
There were also difficult assessments lower down the order. Oscar Piastri left without points, Max Verstappen’s Red Bull did not reach the finish despite podium pace being noted, and Alex Albon’s race ended in retirement after a messy outing. As an opinion-based driver ratings piece, the numbers should be read as one commentator’s evaluation rather than an official ranking.
