Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose have been announced as the featured cover athletes for NBA 2K27. Wembanyama is set for the standard edition, Clark for the deluxe edition and Rose for the ultra edition.
The selections connect three major basketball storylines: Wembanyama becomes the first San Antonio Spurs player on an NBA 2K cover, while Clark becomes the first Indiana Fever player to receive that placement. Rose returns to the franchise’s cover spotlight for a second time, this time with his own ultra edition.
The announcement also leans into a shared résumé point: all three were No. 1 draft picks and all won Rookie of the Year in their respective leagues. It arrives after a season in which Wembanyama was unanimously named Defensive Player of the Year and helped San Antonio reach the NBA Finals, while Clark’s Fever were tied atop the Eastern Conference as the WNBA approached All-Star Weekend.
NBA 2K27’s standard edition is scheduled to launch Sept. 4. Players who buy the deluxe or ultra editions are slated to receive early access beginning Aug. 28, making the cover lineup part of the broader rollout strategy for this year’s game.
