Naomi Osaka is through to the Wimbledon third round after beating Anastasia Gasanova 6-3 6-2. The result matches her best run at the tournament and sets up a meeting with Daria Kasatkina.
Before the match, Osaka again made her arrival part of the story, wearing a white jacket with floral detailing and a long train held at the waist by an obi-style belt. It followed her opening-match look, a full-length white kimono-inspired outfit designed within Wimbledon’s dress-code limits.
Osaka linked her approach to fashion with creative influences from Japan, including the expressive street style associated with Harajuku. Her recent Grand Slam entrances have also included a gold look at the French Open and a jellyfish-inspired outfit at the Australian Open.
The performance keeps the tennis focus sharp as well: Kasatkina is next, while Aryna Sabalenka could await later in the draw. Sabalenka also reached the third round by beating McCartney Kessler and is due to face Jelena Ostapenko next.
