South Africa blank Wales 43-0 as seven different Springboks score

South Africa beat Wales 43-0 in Durban, scoring seven tries and preventing Wales from registering a point. Jasper Wiese, Cobus Reinach, Jessie Kriel, Jaco Williams, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Herschel Jantjies and Paul de Villiers all crossed for the Springboks.

The result keeps South Africa on top of the southern hemisphere Nations Championship table at the halfway stage, with three wins from three after earlier victories over England and Scotland. It also extended the Springboks’ winning run to 11 matches and underlined their position at the top of the world rankings.

For Wales, the concern is not only the size of the defeat but the lack of attacking return. Steve Tandy’s side were held scoreless again by South Africa, leaving the aggregate across the two most recent meetings referenced at 116-0 in the Springboks’ favour.

South Africa achieved the win despite rotating heavily and missing several established names, while 20-year-old Vusi Moyo made his first Test appearance at fly-half. Wales also had selection disruption, with Josh Adams withdrawn late because of a calf issue and Ellis Mee coming into the side.
