Wales will leave for their Nations Championship tour within the next day, with fixtures against Argentina and South Africa to follow their 39-24 win over Fiji in Cardiff. Steve Tandy’s squad now faces a demanding travel schedule as well as two major on-field tests.

The 33-man group is due to head first to Buenos Aires, covering more than 7,000 miles before preparing for Argentina in San Juan. Training time is expected to be limited, and Tandy has indicated Wales will have to adapt rather than treat the logistics as a reason for underperformance.

Argentina enter the match after a high-scoring home defeat by Scotland, but Wales have recent reasons to be wary: the Pumas beat them 52-28 in November 2025, in Tandy’s first game as head coach. After that, Wales are scheduled to travel on to Durban to face world champions South Africa on 18 July, with the Springboks coming off a 45-21 win over England.

For Wales, the tour is also about squad development. Tandy believes time away together can strengthen relationships within the group and provide useful preparation for the travel demands expected at next year’s World Cup in Australia.
