Dort deal reshapes Thunder, Hawks and Mavericks plans

Luguentz Dort is reportedly moving from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team trade, according to ESPN. The deal also sends Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks, Ryan Nembhard to Atlanta and three second-round picks to Oklahoma City.

For the Thunder, the move is framed as both a roster and financial decision. ESPN reported that Oklahoma City picked up Dort’s team option rather than letting him go without return, gaining future assets, creating a trade exception and continuing an offseason in which it has reduced major salary commitments.

Atlanta adds a proven defensive wing who was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2025. Dort averaged 8.3 points and 3.6 rebounds last season, and the Hawks are now positioned to use him alongside Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker on the perimeter.
