The Miami Heat are set to land Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round pick, according to ESPN’s reporting. The move gives Miami its biggest star acquisition in years while pushing Milwaukee into a new roster-building phase.
For the Heat, the appeal is clear: Antetokounmpo remains one of the NBA’s most forceful interior scorers and should immediately change how opponents defend Miami. ESPN’s analysis points to his rim pressure as a direct answer to a long-running Heat weakness, especially alongside Bam Adebayo, whose increased three-point volume could help spacing.
The risk is just as obvious. Antetokounmpo is entering a later stage of his career, has dealt with availability concerns in recent seasons and could leave Miami with a narrow championship window. By moving significant draft capital and young talent, the Heat may have limited flexibility if the first version of this roster is not good enough to contend.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, loses the defining player of its modern franchise history but receives a package that includes proven scoring, young pieces and multiple picks. ESPN’s grades reflected that tension: Miami received a B- for the bold swing, while Milwaukee earned a B+ for the return it secured after the end of the Giannis era.
