The Memphis Grizzlies chose Duke forward Cameron Boozer with the No. 3 pick in the NBA draft, making him a central piece of the franchise’s ongoing roster reset. The move adds one of the draft’s most polished prospects to a team still building around younger players and future assets.
Boozer arrives after a standout lone season at Duke, where he averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 39.1% from three-point range. At 6-foot-8 and still 18 at the time of the report, he offers Memphis a frontcourt player with scoring range, passing feel and immediate rotation appeal.
The Grizzlies’ broader direction remains in flux. The report notes that Memphis still had two more selections inside the top 32, while the organization has been moving through a personnel reset that included the 2025 dismissal of longtime coach Taylor Jenkins. Boozer joins a young group that includes Cedric Coward, Jaylen Wells and Zach Edey, though any projected frontcourt partnership with Edey depends partly on Edey’s recovery from left-ankle surgery in March.
There is also uncertainty around Ja Morant’s future, which makes Boozer’s arrival more than a simple draft addition. For Memphis, the question is whether a player viewed as NBA-ready can help speed up a rebuild without the franchise rushing its next phase.
