Norway are through to the World Cup last 16 after a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast, sealed by Erling Haaland’s 86th-minute finish. The result gives Norway their first World Cup knockout-stage victory and sets up a Sunday meeting with Brazil.
Antonio Nusa had put Norway ahead in the first half with a curling strike, despite Ivory Coast enjoying strong spells. Amad Diallo then changed the rhythm after coming on, clearing a Torbjorn Heggem effort off the line before levelling in the 75th minute with an individual goal.
The match at Dallas Stadium, watched by 69,665, still had one decisive moment left. Oscar Bobb helped create the move, Sander Berge supplied the cross, and Haaland arrived to turn the chance into the winning goal.
Ivory Coast pushed again late, with Amad forcing Orjan Nyland into a stoppage-time save from a free-kick. For Norway, the story now shifts quickly from survival to a major test against Brazil, where Haaland’s efficiency in limited moments will be central to the debate.
