The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Summer League championship with a 94-90 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in Las Vegas. Yaxel Lendeborg led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds, capping a year in which he also was part of Michigan’s NCAA title team.
The final at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center was tight for long stretches, including a tied score at halftime, before Memphis built a double-digit lead late in the third quarter. Golden State responded in the fourth, with Lendeborg producing key baskets and Deivon Smith adding 21 points off the bench.
Cameron Boozer led the Grizzlies with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists, but Memphis could not finish the game despite late chances to win or force overtime. Boozer missed a possible winning three-pointer, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper committed a turnover on an inbounds play in the closing moments.
For Golden State, the result marks a second Summer League championship and a 5-1 finish in the event. The broader question is how much Lendeborg’s versatility and competitive edge can translate when he moves from a featured summer role into a supporting role around the Warriors’ established veterans.
