Mitchell Robinson has reportedly agreed to join the Boston Celtics on a three-year, $47.4 million contract, with the final season including a player option. The report comes via ESPN, citing sources, so the deal should remain pending official confirmation.
Robinson leaves the New York Knicks after eight seasons and a championship run in which he was one of the team’s notable homegrown contributors. Over his Knicks tenure, he averaged 7.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in just under 24 minutes per game.
His value remains closely tied to rebounding and interior presence. Last season, he appeared in 60 games, his highest total since 2022-23, and averaged 4.2 offensive rebounds per game, which ESPN noted ranked second in the NBA.
The move gives Boston a proven center coming off a title season, but the editorial angle to watch is durability and role. Robinson also played through the postseason after returning from a broken right pinkie finger, averaging 4.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per playoff game.
