Premier League title picture still unclear after record-breaking summer moves

The Premier League’s next title race is still too early to call, even after a summer already marked by huge transfer fees and major squad changes. The clearest picture is that the usual contenders remain central, while several clubs are still trying to balance departures, new managers and unfinished business in the market.

Manchester City and Chelsea have made the headline moves, with Elliot Anderson reported at £116 million to City and Morgan Rogers at £117 million to Chelsea. Tottenham have also spent heavily under Roberto De Zerbi, while Manchester United have moved quickly in midfield by adding Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos after Casemiro’s departure.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa each face different forms of pressure. Arsenal are described as still needing reinforcements after Leandro Trossard’s exit and William Saliba’s injury, Liverpool have gaps to address after losing senior players including Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté and Andy Robertson, and Villa must adjust after losing Rogers and Tielemans despite returning to the Champions League.

The managerial changes add another layer. Enzo Maresca has the difficult task of succeeding Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Xabi Alonso is trying to reset Chelsea, and Andoni Iraola needs Liverpool’s squad to evolve quickly. For now, the market has created intrigue rather than certainty, and the strongest editorial takeaway is that July spending has not yet produced a clear title favourite.
