Zak Vyner ready for first-hand look at Wrexham’s US pull

Zak Vyner is preparing for his first direct experience of Wrexham’s American fanbase as the club heads to the United States for three pre-season matches. The defender says he feels fit and wants to use the tour to push for more minutes before the new season.

Wrexham arrive in the US after warm-up fixtures against Wisla Krakow in Poland and Manchester United in Finland. Their American schedule includes Leeds in Tampa on 26 July, Liverpool in New York four days later, and Sunderland in Philadelphia on 2 August.

The trip comes with unusual attention for a Championship club, shaped by Wrexham’s global profile under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac and the reach of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series. Vyner has already seen the club’s travelling support in Europe, but expects the US response to be on another scale.

For Vyner personally, the tour is also a reset point. He joined from Bristol City in January for an undisclosed fee, dealt with injury issues, played in central midfield, and missed the final five matches of the season with a groin problem. Pre-season now gives him a chance to settle further and make a stronger case for selection.
