Caleb Wilson sets Rookie of the Year target as Bulls era begins

Caleb Wilson has made his first NBA ambition clear: the new Chicago Bulls forward is aiming for Rookie of the Year. The No. 4 draft pick said at his introductory event that he believes Chicago is a strong fit for the way he wants to play.

Wilson arrived in Chicago after one season at North Carolina, where his college year ended early because of a broken thumb that kept him out of the NCAA tournament. That limited résumé adds intrigue to his rookie campaign, especially with several players selected ahead of him entering the league with more recent high-profile game exposure.

The Bulls also introduced No. 15 pick Dailyn Swain at the practice facility, with new basketball operations leader Bryson Graham present as the team begins another phase of its rebuild. Wilson framed his confidence as part of a broader desire to help restore the franchise’s standing, while also acknowledging the weight of Chicago’s history and Michael Jordan’s legacy.

Early competitive comparisons could arrive quickly. Chicago’s first three Las Vegas Summer League games are scheduled against Memphis, Utah and Washington, giving Wilson potential matchups connected to Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa — the three players drafted before him.
