Neemias Queta is set to remain with the Boston Celtics on a fully guaranteed four-year, $56 million extension, according to an ESPN report citing his agent, Bill Duffy. Boston had already exercised Queta’s option for next season before agreeing to the longer deal, which would keep him under contract through 2030-31.
The move reflects how much Queta’s role changed in Boston’s frontcourt. After stepping into the starting center spot, he averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, shot above 65% from the field and added 1.3 blocks per game.
Queta started 75 of his 76 appearances last season and played just over 25 minutes per game. His rise also gained league-wide notice, with a fourth-place finish in Most Improved Player voting and some All-Defense support.
For Boston, the extension suggests confidence that Queta can remain a central piece after the departures of Luke Kornet, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis. His path from limited minutes with Sacramento to a major Celtics role makes this one of the more notable internal development stories on the roster.
