The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly trading Deandre Ayton to the Washington Wizards in a deal centered on Jaden Hardy and two future second-round picks. The picks are listed as 2031 and 2032 selections, according to ESPN’s sourcing.
For the Lakers, the move would come after their separate sign-and-trade for Walker Kessler, shifting Ayton out while adding a young guard and future draft capital. ESPN also reported that Los Angeles is expected to look for another backup big, with Andre Drummond, Jonas Valanciunas and Kevon Looney among names being considered.
Washington’s side of the deal appears tied to frontcourt depth. Ayton would join a group that includes Anthony Davis and Alex Sarr, with Sarr recovering from surgery on a right-foot fracture. Ayton started all 72 of his regular-season games last season, averaging 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds.
Hardy gives the Lakers a 23-year-old guard who shot well from three after arriving in Washington last season. Because the report is based on unnamed sources rather than a team announcement, editors should treat the transaction as reported but still awaiting official confirmation.
