Howe offers no guarantee on Guimaraes future as Arsenal interest looms

Eddie Howe has said he cannot guarantee Bruno Guimaraes will remain at Newcastle United, despite holding positive talks with the club captain. The uncertainty comes with BBC Sport reporting that Arsenal are preparing a £70m offer for the Brazil midfielder.

Guimaraes is expected back with Newcastle after time away following Brazil’s World Cup exit, with the squad due to head to a pre-season camp in Spain. Howe’s public stance is careful: Newcastle want to keep a player central to their midfield, but the transfer picture is not fully in his hands.
