Malik Beasley pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in Brooklyn federal court after being charged in a federal gambling case. His agent, Paolo Zamorano, also entered a not guilty plea, and both were released on bond.
The indictment alleges that Beasley changed or attempted to change his performance in several 2024 Milwaukee Bucks games to help bettors and reduce debts. Those claims remain allegations, and the case has not been adjudicated.
One cited example involves a Bucks-Clippers game on March 10, 2024, where prosecutors say wagers were tied to Beasley’s rebound total. The filing also connects the alleged arrangement to former teammate Ed Davis, who is described in the case as having loaned money to Beasley.
The matter is part of a broader federal gambling investigation that has included other basketball figures. Beasley and Zamorano are scheduled to return to court for a status conference on Aug. 6, making the next phase of the case important for both legal process and league-integrity discussions.
