Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer both opened summer-league play with strong debuts. Peterson led Utah with 28 points in a 103-102 overtime win over Atlanta, while Boozer helped Memphis beat Oklahoma City 111-74 with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Peterson, the No. 2 pick by the Jazz, played 27 minutes and shot 11-of-21, giving Utah fans an early look at his shot creation and aggressiveness. His debut was not clean, however, as he also committed eight turnovers while handling more point-guard responsibility than he is expected to carry alongside Keyonte George in the regular season.
Boozer, taken No. 3 by the Grizzlies, was efficient in 24 minutes, shooting 7-of-11 and showing more than just finishing ability. His passing drew attention in the arena, and his comfort within Memphis’ group stood out despite the short preparation window before the game.
The two rookies are already linked by draft position and by Utah’s reported evaluation process, with the Jazz ultimately choosing Peterson ahead of Boozer. Their next summer-league meeting offers an early, limited glimpse at how two top prospects are adjusting to NBA spacing, pace and expectations.
