LeBron James has not chosen his next team, but his agent Rich Paul says the market is broad: he has spoken with 27 teams after James informed the Los Angeles Lakers he intends to move on. The situation remains a rumour-stage process, not a completed move.
Paul used a podcast segment to walk through 10 teams connected to the discussion: Philadelphia, Cleveland, Denver, Minnesota, Miami, New York, Golden State, Dallas, Boston and San Antonio. ESPN also reported that San Antonio is not viewed as a likely landing spot, while Paul suggested New York is difficult because of the risk of disrupting what the Knicks already have.
Philadelphia and Cleveland received especially detailed attention from Paul. He pointed to the 76ers’ star talent and leadership group, while Cleveland’s case included roster pieces and long-running personal and front-office ties around James.
The broader takeaway is that James’ next step is being framed less as an urgent chase and more as a careful late-career choice. Paul described the decision as centered on James’ happiness, with basketball fit, relationships, lifestyle and competition all part of the calculation.
